We are introducing Devolens as the brand for the company behind Cryptolens. Cryptolens remains the name of our licensing platform, while Cryptolens AB remains the legal entity behind the business.

The Cryptolens product remains the same. Existing accounts, data, integrations, APIs, and licensing setups continue to work as before. The change is to the brand name, not to the product itself.

This article explains why we made the change, how Devolens and Cryptolens relate to each other, and what it means for customers.

A Name that Better Reflects Where We Are Going

The Cryptolens name has been used for many years. During that time, the platform has evolved substantially based on how companies use it to manage software licensing in production.

The name itself, however, increasingly created confusion with cryptocurrency. While "Crypto" in Cryptolens refers to cryptography, the term is commonly associated with cryptocurrencies today.

We therefore decided to use a new brand name that gives us a clearer identity and better reflects our focus on the teams building and operating software.

That name is Devolens.

The new name also separates the company brand from the product itself, giving us room to continue developing the platform while keeping the Cryptolens name for the licensing product that customers already use.

Devolens and Cryptolens

The distinction is simple:

Devolens is our brand name. Cryptolens is our licensing platform.

Cryptolens remains the licensing platform used to implement and operate software licensing, including licensing models such as node-locked, floating, and offline licensing.

The product has not been replaced or renamed. Existing customers continue using Cryptolens as they did before.

The technology behind Cryptolens has also been developed for more than a decade. What began as an early software licensing system has evolved through continued development and customer use into a platform for managing licensing and entitlements in production.

The Devolens name represents the next stage of that development.

What Changes for Existing Customers?

For existing Cryptolens customers, there is very little to change.

• Your Cryptolens account remains the same.
• Your data remains unchanged.
• Your licensing setup continues to work as before.
• Existing APIs, SDKs, and technical integrations remain unchanged.
• You do not need to migrate your licenses or change your application.
• The Cryptolens product continues to use its existing product-related domains.

The company website has moved from Cryptolens.io to Devolens.com. Existing website URLs redirect to their corresponding pages on the new domain.

The pricing plans have also remained unchanged as part of the rebrand.

A New Brand Name, Not a New Product

The rebrand does not change the underlying service or the legal entity behind it. It changes how we present the company and its products publicly.

It is a change in how we present the company behind it.

As the platform has developed, our focus has expanded from implementing individual licensing mechanisms to helping companies operate licensing as part of their software infrastructure. That includes the practical systems around entitlements, activations, renewals, offline deployments, usage enforcement, and other licensing workflows.

We will continue developing Cryptolens with that focus in mind, while investing further in the platform and the company around it.

Why Devolens?

The name Devolens combines our focus on developers with the licensing technology that remains at the center of the platform.

More importantly, it gives the company a distinct identity that is not associated with cryptocurrency terminology while preserving the Cryptolens name for the product itself.

For customers, the distinction is straightforward:

Devolens is the company brand. Cryptolens is the licensing platform. Cryptolens AB remains the legal entity behind the business.

The name has changed, but the product and the technology customers rely on continue to evolve from the same foundation.
