Devolens has expanded its collection of customer case studies to document how software companies across different industries use its licensing platform in production.
The case study initiative is part of Devolens' broader effort to better understand how customers build, distribute, and commercialize software, and to use that feedback to continue improving the platform.
The companies featured span industrial automation, manufacturing, scientific research, jewelry software, finance and auditing, and engineering software. Their implementations also cover different licensing requirements, including subscriptions, offline deployments, customer entitlements, and automated license management.
Software licensing can look very different depending on the product and the way it is sold.
For XR4Industry, licensing needed to integrate with a Unity-based digital twin platform while supporting the company's transition toward scalable software distribution.
MANUFAI uses Devolens across software products for manufacturing, with licensing automation helping reduce administrative work and standardize workflows for its development teams. The company estimates that licensing automation saves approximately 25 hours per project and around $3,000 annually.
For Illumion, licensing is part of commercializing proprietary scientific software alongside specialized battery research hardware. Devolens provides a structured way to control software access without adding unnecessary complexity for researchers and technical users.
Other customers have different requirements. BlueStone Tech Labs uses Devolens to support commercial desktop software and offline deployments, reporting approximately 20 hours per week saved through reduced licensing administration.
SpreadsheetSoftware uses Devolens to support the transition of ExcelAnalyzer from one-off licenses to annual subscriptions, including automated validation and renewal management across a global customer base.
coolOrange, meanwhile, uses the platform to manage subscriptions and customer entitlements across more than 1,000 customers and a global reseller network, including more than 80 Autodesk reseller partners.
The case studies provide a more detailed view of the role licensing plays inside real software businesses.
Across the companies documented, licensing is not simply a mechanism for checking whether a user has access. It is connected to software distribution, subscriptions, customer management, product commercialization, deployment requirements, and internal engineering workflows.
That variety is important to Devolens.
Rather than designing the platform around a single type of software business, we continue to learn from how different companies actually use licensing in production. Customer feedback helps identify common challenges while also showing where different products require different approaches.
The case study program also gives Devolens an opportunity to better understand where the platform can continue to improve.
Customer conversations provide insight into how licensing is implemented, where teams encounter operational friction, and which capabilities become important as their software products and businesses develop.
These insights complement the direct feedback Devolens receives through its ongoing work with customers and help inform the continued development of the platform.
The growing collection of case studies is therefore not only a way to document customer success. It is also a way for Devolens to share practical examples of software licensing in production and continue learning from the companies using the platform.
